THAT DAY is a story about a family that is forced by circumstances to rework what it means to be a family. The delicate fiber that keeps the Gonzalez family together has unraveled, and it's up to a mother’s desperate attempt to re-unite her family of six, after her death.

From the love they have for each other, to the pain caused by a youthful mistake, a mystery is presented to each family member in the form of a tea cup.

Hand painted by their mother, underneath each cup are the words “THAT DAY, July 20, 1983”. Soon after she is buried, each family member receives a mysterious package containing a tea cup and a letter with specific instructions.

Meeting at the mother's farm house, they struggle to unravel the mystery of THAT DAY.  Tensions flare as each of the siblings confronts their fears, hopes, dreams and social separation within the family structure.

Finally, the family is forced to face their indifferences and place them aside and come to the aid of two of their children that are in danger from forces of Nature.

Sometimes the hardest gift to give is forgiveness.

THAT DAY, was filmed in Lorain County, Ohio and is written, directed, shot and edited by J. Carlos Gonzalez.  This film marks his directorial debut.
